Never Trust A Mechanic You Don't Know

As you all know, I've had my bit of car troubles in the last two weeks. It hasn't been fun. But I will tell you this, I will not take my car to another mechanic that I don't know, I will stick to ones I do. Why is this you ask? Well, two weeks ago when my car broke down, it broke down by work. To get it towed up here to the mechanic my family uses would have cost at least $150. So, I called around down there, and went to someone that sounded fair and honest. Someone who talked to me about what it could be, rather than just saying, "We have to look at it before I say anything." Being a female, noone wants to help. Needless to say, I had someone near work fix it, picked it up last Monday, and then Tuesday on the way to work, my check engine light came on. I called the guy up (because it didn't happen til after he touched it) and told him. He had me bring it in and he hooked it up to the diagnostic test, and told me an oxygen sensor went bad. I asked how much to fix, he said around $190. Needless to say, I was upset because I just spend $400 on my car. I left and called my mechanic, and he said about $200. I set up an appointment with him (because I TRUST him) and it went in the shop today.

I got a call later, and guess what was said. They oxygen sensor was unplugged! UNPLUGGED? It cost me $42 total. I was happy about the $42 but not about the sensor being unplugged. My dad was with me when we picked it up because I needed a ride, and he asked him before I could if it unplugs by itself or has to be unplugged? The mechanic said that there is a clip on there to keep it from being unplugged so it has to be unplugged. Yep, someone unplugged it. Someone unplugged it at the last shop. Lovely huh? They didn't get more money out of me like they planned though, if they did plan it. I explained how it broke down and I had to have it fixed by work, and told them what they did, and he said they had room to fix the problem without unplugging the sensor, but they might have to give them more room. I doubt it. I just think it's fishy. I also think they probably would have just plugged it in and still charged me for a new sensor, which my mechanic was honest about. That's why if anything happens again, I'll pay the $150 to tow it. I know all mechanics aren't like this, but it still pisses me off that it could have been done to make me come back for more work. Not happening.

I will say that we needed transmission work on my bfs truck, and I called around before having it done and only one guy talked to me about what it could be (since I did have the diagnostic testing code) and told me it was probably the solenoids when everyone else would just tell me I probably needed the transmission rebuilt. We took it to this guy and it only costed us $200 instead of a grand. So yes, I did go to a new one there, and it worked out, but I will try not to do it anymore. The mechanic I have now is all that I will use until we leave the state.

Okay, enough said, sorry about the long post. I'm just really angry about it right now! Have a good Tuesday.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

I'm not going to spoil the book here for anyone, just going to tell how I felt about it. I read it over the weekend (I didn’t wait in line at midnight for it, I picked it up Saturday morning) and read it by Sunday night. I have to say, I liked it. I am sad to see it end because I love the books but I like the way it ended. I was surprised by a lot of things I didn’t expect to happen, and even by some stuff I thought would happen. It was a good book. I don’t want to ruin it for anyone who has yet to read it, so I'm putting some more in the extended entry. All in all though, I liked them all. I think 6 was my favorite though, not really sure why, just was. I can’t wait for that movie to come out. Anyways, that’s all, Happy Thursday.

I expected Harry to die, and that didn't happen. I'm sure a lot of others thought the same, but I was happy to see he didn't, and to see that he ended up with Ginny and Hermione and Ron finally got together after so long. I was saddest at Fred dying because throughout all of the books, and movies, George and Fred were my two favorite characters. I was sad about the other characters too, but most about Fred. Crazy huh? I am glad it ended though the way it did. Anyways, if you want to talk about it, email me at faith at faithwild.com.

Update on the Car

Well, I got it fixed and got it back Monday before work. Cost me 400 dollars. I drove to work, then drove home. Yesterday, I filled it up with gas, drove to the bank, then home. On the way to work, my engine light came on. I about freaked out. Never had that happened. I was worried because I used someone new to fix my car (otherwise it would have cost well over 150 dollars to have it towed up here over top the 400) so I was worried. I called the guy up who did my car, and told him. He told me to bring it in. He hooked it up to the diagnostic test and said that I have an oxygen sensor gone bad. Guess what, another 200 I'm going to have to spend! Yippee. I'm taking it to my normal person though because I trust him a lot more. So in the last month, we've spent 200 on my bfs car, 400 on mine, and another 200 here shortly. That comes to 800. Yay! I'm so excited, aren't you? We thought we got off lucky with his car, were expecting to spend at least a grand to fix it cause we thought we were going to have to fix the transmission, but it was only a solenoid problem. Yeah, by the time this is through, I'm sure we'll end up spending that grand. Fun.

Car Trouble

Yesterday, something happened to me that scared the living crap out of me. My car stopped switching gears. I was coming off of I-95 (Thank you God!) and started having problems. I was real close to work (again, thank you) and was able to make it to my boyfriends shop where I parked it and it is now sitting. There's nothing like driving down the road when all of a sudden the car won't go into any gear. It drives up to like 35 mph so I was able to park it, but I can't put it in any gear. I thought I would have to replace the clutch (YIKES!) but now it sounds like it could just be the shifter cable or something like that. Hopefully that's all it is and not the clutch, or the transmission (again YIKES!) I won't find out for sure until I get it in the shop (hopefully soon) and then I'll post the update. My poor car is sick though :( I am grateful though that I didn't break down on I95. That would have been a nightmare! Hopefully today will go by better. Happy Friday everyone!

Ghost Hunters

I don't know anyones views on this subject really, or if you even watch the show, but I'll admit right here I'm addicted to it. I absolutely LOVE Ghost Hunters. It comes on SCI-FI Wednesday at 9pm and again at 11. Well, it did, the season finally just aired last night, and boy was it good. I am not afraid to admit, I believe in ghosts, have had first hand accounters with some. A couple of scary encounters, and a couple of good ones. Not all were bad. So needless to say, it makes me love the show all the more.

If you don't know about it, I'll give you a background. Two guys started a ghost hunters group called Taps. They travel all over to debunk hauntings. They don't go somewhere and claim "Hey, it's haunted." They try to disprove whatever is going on. They have all kinds of equipment from voice to video, and it's neat the things they catch. They debunk a lot of it, but at times, they can't explain what is going on. It's cool.

Last nights was really good. They traveled to Hollywood to investigate a house that is 200 yards from the Manson/Tate murders. The original house was gone, but a new house went up real close and claimed to be haunted. It was cool the stuff they caught that showed it was haunted. It was awesome. They had voice recordings, electro magnetic recordings where they were asking yes and no questions and getting answers, and some other stuff. It was enjoyable.

After that, they went to the Henson Studios, which was originally Charlie Chaplin's studios and found an appiration which was cool. It was one of the better ones I've seen.

Well, that's it. Exciting huh? I know, can't help myself. Anyways, have a good Thursday! It's almost Friday!

Harry Potter

Well, Saturay night my boyfriend and I headed to the theatre to see the new Harry Potter movie. I have got to say, I really enjoyed it. I have read all of the books so far, waiting for the last one to come out, but just started to watch the movies. I can say I think they casted people from the books perfectly. I really enjoyed it though, and am looking forward to year 6 coming out next November. Other than that, my weekend was kind of busy. Saturday day we went swimming at my grandparents, grocery shopping, then to the movies and home for a late night walk. Yesterday we drove out to Fair Hill Nature Center to go hiking, but had to turn around because they were having a bike race on the trails, which stinks. We went swimming then home to watch sports, and for another late night walk last night. Since last Monday, we've been walking every night. Its rather enjoyable. We're going to try to keep doing it, we shall see how that goes. Anyways, that's it for now, off to get ready for work, probably another boring night. Yippee. Have a good one.

Happy Friday!

Well, Mr. PITA is doing well. They said it's just an infection and put him on antibiotics (I guess because they really don't know what it is.) He's drinking, eating, and using the potty, so he'll be fine. He's even starting to act more PITA normal. I would say normal, but PITA, he's just not normal. One of the weirdest cats I've ever met. But he's my baby.

Other than that, nothing is happening really. Work is SLOW and BORING. My bf and I started walking every night, so that's nice. It's for his benefit, but I enjoy walking, so we both go ahead and do it when I get off of work. It's enjoyable. This weekend we're hopefully going to this place called Fair Hill Nature Center to do some walking/hiking. They have trails you can pick from and we might do the Green Trail which is 5.some miles. Yippee. We might go see the new Harry Potter also. Yes, I like Harry Potter. I can't wait for the last book! And DON'T tell me anything you've heard about it please! It's going to be an enjoyable weekend I'm sure. Have a great one and HAPPY FRIDAY the 13th!

The Joy of Cats

If you've read this off and on for a while now, you know I have a cat. His name is PITA (Pain In The Ass) and he's my baby. We now have two cats living together, the other one is Tito. Anyways, PITA has been acting really weird the last few days, and I don't like it. Sunday night he came in and laid down on the couch, come Monday, he was still laying there. He was acting really lazy and quiet, which is weird for him. He didn't get up and move around until Monday evening, and even then, he was meowing weirdly. He's usually a LOUD cat, but he was quiet. Then yesterday, he was acting more towards normal. He was drinking and eating and walking around. My bf said he got lazier during the day, but then last night when I got home, he came downstairs and was missing a patch of fur by his right ear. It looked nasty. It's better looking today. Needless to say, we're headed to the vet at 3:15. Wish me luck. I know, he's just a cat to some, but he is my baby. I just hope everything is okay.

Relaxing Weekends

I just had one of the most relaxing weekends that I've had in a long time. We didn't make any plans and just did what we wanted this weekend, which wasn't much. Saturday we went shopping at Kohl's (I got two pair of capris and two shirts) and then watched baseball and Nascar Saturday night. Sunday, we ran to WalMart, and then hung out around the house. I did some vacuuming and cooking, and baking cookies, but I was relaxed most of the day. It was a very needed relaxing weekend though. Helped that it started at 6 on Friday because I got off then. Yay me!

Other than that, I'm busy today looking up stuff on real estate classes for my bf. He wants to look into getting into that. He has the personality for it, that's for sure. We shall see. I start school September 4. I'm going to be BUSY. My schedule will be:

Mon. class 8-1150 Digital Foundation I, 1245-205 Art History II, then work straight afterwards til 10.

Tue. class 8-1050 Biology (YUCK!) then break and work 2-10.

Wed. class 1245-205 then work til 10.

Thurs. class 8-1050 Biology (YUCK!) then break and work 2-10.

Friday...work 2-10 (the easy day!)

So needless to say, I'll probably be cranky. For one, I HATE Biology. I Hate science. I wanted Physics cause it's all math based, but they only offer that at night. Joy of joys. Mondays are going to SUCK, but I'll get through, I always do. That's what happens when you're juggling full time work and school. Fun stuff. For those out there who are just finishing high school, get college out of the way if you can, don't be like me and fart around with it trying to decide. It sucks as you get older trying to juggle both career and school. Trust me.

Well, that's it, happy happy tired Monday! I could not sleep in this morning, so I'll def. have to take a nap between lunch and leaving for work. Have a good one.

The Next Few Days

I am so happy, the next few days will be good! Tomorrow, of course, I have off! Then Thursday and Friday my hours will be 10-6 (unless we get busy of course, then I'll get a little overtime!). I can't wait! If I can get off at 6, I will be in heaven! Home that early, I won't even know what to do. The only thing that sucks is I have to work with my sucky supervisor, blah! But come 6, I'll be so happy! Anyways, I'm brewing with a post, just have to sit down and type it. Have a good one.
